The automatic espresso machine is your best choice if you’re looking for a fully automatic, extremely convenient and easy to use espresso machine that makes your daily java without presenting you with a tall bill.
Here I’m referring to pump espresso makers that use capsules or pods that contain ground espresso, instead of the super automatic espresso machine with built-in grinder that allows you to use fresh coffee beans. Those are way more expensive though more and more home users are buying them now.
Anyway I digress. The automatic espresso maker is really affordable, with prices ranging from $120 to $400. They are unbelievably easy to use; you just need to make sure there’s water in the tank, pop in an espresso pod and choose your drink size by pressing a button on the machine. There’s no clean up to do; you may run an empty shot (without the pod) to flush the head. The used pod will be transferred to a container and you can throw the bulk of them when the container is full.
As for milk based espresso drinks like latte and cappuccino, automatic espresso machines may or may not include a milk frother and steamer.
Automatic Espresso Machine Reviews 2016
Best Automatic Espresso Machine – Nespresso Citiz
The Nespresso Citiz may be an old model, but I highly recommend this automatic espresso machine for its great performance, design and value for price. This sleek-looking espresso machine has a compact footprint and includes an automatic milk frother and steamer to make your lattes.
Although you must use Nespresso capsules for this automatic espresso maker, Nespresso coffee come in a wide variety of flavors that you can try. I also love that the machine automatically goes off to save energy and the capsules are fully recyclable.
Delonghi EN550S Lattissima Touch
At a higher price point, the Delonghi Lattissima Touch is another great automatic espresso machine that gives you the utmost convenience in making an espresso drink. You can easily make your favorite drink by pressing one of the 6 buttons. This machine uses Nespresso pods as well, and comes with a bigger used pod container and water tank.
The best thing about this automatic espresso maker is the removable milk container. You can store milk in the fridge using the container itself, and attach it directly to the frother when you want to make a milk based espresso drink. I call that convenient!

Best Budget Automatic Espresso Maker – Nespresso Inissia
A really inexpensive automatic espresso machine you can buy is the Inissia. This is a very basic model of the Nespresso machines, not a very pretty or solid looking one, but it makes espresso just as well as the other automatic machines with a 19-bar pressure pump.
You can make both espresso and lungo sizes with this espresso machine, but it doesn’t come with a milk frother, so you’ll have to buy a separate one if you plan to make lattes. The Aeroccino milk frother from Nespresso is good but it’s expensive so you may want to consider another one.
